Busan
Travel Guide

Busan, South Korea's largest port city and the second-largest city, is located in the southern region. Its captivating coastline features seven expansive beaches and stunning cliffs, all within a short drive from the city center. Every day, the port receives a bounty of fresh catches. Contrasting Seoul, Busan exudes a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, attracting numerous summer visitors seeking sun-soaked beaches.

Since the 15th century, Busan has been a designated trading port of the Joseon Dynasty. In 1876, it officially opened as a port and later became the most important gateway between Korea and Japan during the Japanese occupation. Throughout the Korean War, Busan remained unoccupied by North Korean forces and served as the temporary capital. The massive influx of refugees led to the emergence of several refugee villages, including the transformed Gamcheon Culture Village. Whether you are seeking coastal beauty or a deep dive into Korean history, Busan is an excellent choice!
